Order of forum posts

Hello,

Does anybody know if it's possible to reverse the order of replies in a blog?

Thank you for your reply,

Patrycja

Re: Order of forum posts

Hi,

The title of this thread mentions the forums but your question seems to be about the blog. In the blog if you use the internal comment system you can control the sort as either ascending or descending from Settings > Comment System

For external comment systems they may have their own configuration options on their sites.

Hope that helps,

Joe

Re: Order of forum posts

Hi Joe,

Thank you for your reply. Indeed, I made a typo and I am sorry for that.

The question was about forum. I saw that forum threads are organized in the way that the newest thread is on the top. Is it possible to organize posts (replies to posts) in the same way, so that users can see the newest post on the top of their screen? It would be very useful, especially in case of threads with multiple pages.

Thank you for your reply.

Regards,

Patrycja

Re: Order of forum posts

Hi Patrycja,

I don't think reverse sorting really makes sense in the forums. The blog is different because the comments are about the blog post which is always above the comments, each comment may be independent of the others so seeing the newest ones first is a reasonable option.

A forum thread has the question in the first post of the thread and subsequent posts are in response to the question/first post on the thread. It would not make sense to have the answers before the question when reading a forum thread, especially on a long thread with lots of replies. It should stay in discussion order to have a meaningful context.

Note that when replying to a forum post the thread is sorted in reverse order beneath the editor so that users will see the most recent response before posting a new response.

Best,

Joe
