Restrict access to folder under Media folder

Hi Joe,

I am trying to allow one of my staff members to upload files under the Media folder. She can create a sub folder under Media called Board Manual but I dont want others to be able to see inside that folder as there are some confidential files in there.

She wants to upload files and then link to them via the HTML Content module for some board members only to access later.

How can I do this?

Cheers!

Dominique

Re: Restrict access to folder under Media folder

Any files in the web tree that can be serverd by IIS are going to be visible/discoverable, so it's never advisable to put confidential information there even if you think it's hidden somehow (security through obscurity=inevitable failure). If you need to restrict files only to members of a particular security role, you should use the Shared Files module to restrict them to the roles you want.

See also the documentation for the Shared Files feature which explains how it protects files.
