Option to delete page content when deleting page

One some sites we run with multiple authors, we find we end up with a ton of abandoned junk content because people delete pages but don't delete the content. I don't blame them - it's quite laborious to chase down and kill the content.

When deleting a page, could there be a prompt whether or not to delete the content on the page?

On a related note, when removing content from a page, could there be a prompt whether or not to delete it entirely? We find that in the vast majority of cases this is what is wanted, but again the user has to go chasing it down in the Content Manager (so they don't bother).

Re: Option to delete page content when deleting page

Sorry but with all the higher value things to work on this is not something likely to become a priority any time soon.

Deleting pages from a web site should in general be an infrequent at least for public facing pages and I'd rather err on the side of not losing content so that things "deleted" by mistake can be recovered.

Implementing what you are asking for would be significant work. One thing that we may do in the near future is make it easier to find the content instance that are not published on any  pages.

Re: Option to delete page content when deleting page

In the Content Manager, putting the number of times published into its own (sortable) column would help.

Allowing deletion from the grid would also save time, instead of having to click through and scroll to the bottom to find the Delete button.
