Creating custom mojoportal skin from scratch by hand

Hello,

firstly I really apologize for my weak english skills, it's not my motherlanguage.

Now to the point:

I am designer. I can make a professional photoshop mockup, I know some html/css/JS basics and I'm able to code the psd mockup into quite functional html web page. I am also a bit familiar with asp.net, webforms and c# language. And because I need a lightweight, easy to learn CMS for my purposes, these skills have guided me to the mojoportal. (btw i am new to cms in general)

But for me as a designer are extremely important questions of "designing possibilities". I need to look my sites perfectly, modern and original. Because of this reason I can't use artisteer, etc.

I read mojoportal documentation "design and skinning" but I can't find there a solid tutorial or manual of "how to make a custom skin from scratch", from step 1 to step n. Also the documentation seems quite unordered to me.

I was not able to find even 3rd party stuff to this topic.

So the question is- Is it possible to make a solid, step by step tutorial about creating mojo skins by hand from scratch? Or at least an abstract stuff about some strategies, hints, tips, FAQ, where to begin, what to pay attention for,... etc? I think such tutorial/guide would be "bestseller" and lots of people would choose mojoportal only for that reason, because the tutorial would safe a lot of time and energy.. What do you think?

Re: Creating custom mojoportal skin from scratch by hand

Hi Michal,

I agree with you regarding tools like Artisteer. My firm, i7MEDIA, specializes in mojoPortal and we do a lot of skinning. Send me an email and we can setup a call so maybe we can work on the skinning documentation together. There's a lot to cover and a lot of it is already covered. The biggest hurdle is just jumping in and trying some things. Once you do that, you'll see that for a seasoned web developer with a very good understanding of HTML, CSS and JavaScript, skinning mojoPortal is very straightforward.

You can contact me through the contact form on the i7MEDIA website.

Thanks,
Joe D.
