Re: Facebook Like button is not working

I think the Facebook "like" widget only cares whether you are currently logged in to FB - if you are, you might see something like "you and one other person like this". If not, you might see "2 people like this", one of whom might be you, but you are not currently logged in (to FB).

Also note that FB is remembering your statistics using the page URL. You may also get odd results if the same feature or page can be viewed under different URLs, e.g. with or without a "www." prefix, but I'm speculating here.

However I also think the FB widgets may be buggy (or cranky). I have a page where it always displays one less "like" when I view it on my home machine than on any other. And I have a blog post where the Like widget will not display at all - the http request to FB just yields an empty response - it displays fine for every other post in the same blog.

Re: Facebook Like button is not working

Facebook like button is a bit cranky in my experience as well. One thing I've found is that it is very important to have a meta description for the page or blog post.

In addition to our built in Facebook like button, in the latest release (2.3.9.3) we've added the AddThis widget which combines several like buttons including Facebook and twitter, so you might try upgrading and using that to see if it works any better for you.

Hope that helps,

Joe
