I am evaluating MP. I have used DNN years ago and found it not easy to customize and maintain. I know it got better but I am looking for a better system for my next project.

I am looking for an asp.net open source or low cost system to simply and easily create small to medium size websites. The systems should be: low learning curve, developers friendly, end user ease of maintaining content, reasonable number of modules. I hope to be able to use one of the existing skins. There will be two website with similar content. One in English and one in Hebrew. The sites are small (number of pages) but will have regular content, blogs with commends, list of articles and search  which I understand are all built in into MP.

Questions:

- Skin: If none of the available skins will match the needs, are there developers out there who can create a skin per HTML design? 

- Right to Left: I read a few threads discussing this issue. I would like to hear from someone who actually converted lett-to-right templates to right-to-left. How difficult / time consuming was it?

- API / Database: I would like to hear from anyone who used MP classes to get content directly. Was it simple and fast or did it take long time to learn? I have used Ektron CMS400 CMS for a large scale project. The requirements were such that I ended up using API calls to get content of all types (content, meta data, library assets etc.) by folder (sitemap node) or by a search. I also ended up writing some stored procedure in the database when it was too cumbersome to get content either with server controls or API.
