Layout design

Hi at all, I need some info about the layout of my mojoPortal website.

I need a layout like:

    TD                    TD                   TD

                 TD       TD        TD

Is possible?

Thanks,

Simone

Re: Layout design

Hi,

You cannot layout feature instances like that, but you can do layout within a single instance of Html content feature. We include a few content templates that give examples how to do that. It is better to do layout within a single instance of Html content feature rather than creating a page with a  lot of separate Html content instances because each content instance requires additional hits to the database.  I would not use html tables for layout.

Actually, technically you "could" do layout like that with a table in the layout.master file and using 5 content panels, but I would not do that, I would try to do it in a single instance of Html content that uses the whole width of the page and then do column layout inside that single instance.

Hope that helps,

Joe

Re: Layout design

Hi Simone,

Your desired layout is possible with mojoPortal. If you take a look a this page, you'll see some example content and css that will show you how to acomplish it.

The key here is to use the "Custom Css Class" option on the module instances so you can position them how you like on the page. Also, you must put all of the instances in one "panel." I used the "Center" panel for this example. Each one of the module instances has a class of "cpanes" and another class of "cpaneX" where X is the numbered pane (pane 1 has a class of cpane1).

Keep in mind that if you are only concerned with HTML content, you shouldn't use this approach. In that case, you should follow Joe Audette's advice about the single instance of HTML content feature.

HTH,
Joe D.
