404 error with SharedFiles

I'm using the shared files feature and I want to upload a zip file that's around a 100mb for my users to download. After a few seconds the request fails with a 404 error. If I upload a smaller file, it works. I'm guessing its related to file size, but I don't know where the config option to change it would be. Also, can you set the limitation per instance of a SharedFiles control? I only want this one instance to have large files.

Thanks

Ed

Re: 404 error with SharedFiles

Hi, there's a document page specifically devoted to Supporting Large File Uploads. That encapsulates everything we know about the subject.

I believe that enabling the large file uploads will be global to your mojoPortal installation (changes are in IIS and/or web.config/user.config).

Re: 404 error with SharedFiles

Thank you Jamie.

I decided to just upload the 2 files to the server and use links.

I wonder if the error might be made a little more informative, rather than just a 404? I have other SharedFiles instances. Althought it didn't take me too long to figure out what the problem was, what if a user tries uploading a file that is too large? It would look better if mojoportal handled the error. I could post some warning instructions, but they might not pay attention (i.e. "read" Frown) them.

Re: 404 error with SharedFiles

Hi Ed,

404 means page not found. What url is it saying is not found?

I have never encountered that with the Shared Files feature so without more detail about the error or steps to produce the problem I don't know what would cause a 404.

Is it logging an error? Can you post the error details?

Best,

Joe
