Content Workflow - how set draft content to live

I'm trying out Content Workflow for the first time and finding a small problem...

I would like to use it to create draft content that can be set to live when ready, as described in the documentation. However, once I have created some content as "draft", the only way of setting it to live seems to be to submit it for approval, which in my case will involve emails going to several other site editors, which I don't want. I just want to set it to live myself!

When I first create content I can choose whether to "Create Draft" or "Update" - the latter sets the content to live immediately, which seems good as I am not in a role that can only create draft content (I am an Administrator). But If I choose to "Create Draft" at this point, then I have lost the ability to set the content to live without requesting approval.

This seems like a bug to me, but I'm also aware I might have got some config wrong! I feel that when I go back in to edit the content, I should have an "Update" button. Also I feel that when viewing the content, instead of the "Request approval" button I should have the "Approve changes made..." button. I feel the "Request approval" button should only be shown to users in the "only create draft" content roles.

Re: Content Workflow - how set draft content to live

Hi Crispin, I agree that administrators should (optionally) be able to self-approve draft content, and it seems to me that I had requested this as well at some point in the past. But as of now there is no way to set up the system to do that.

Re: Content Workflow - how set draft content to live

Hi Guys,

I agree a user with full edit permissions should be able to publish a draft directly without having to submit for approval.

I'm shooting for a new release on Wednesday so not sure if I can get to this in time for this release, I will try but if not then for sure I will do it in the next release.

Best,

Joe
