Artisteer Blog

Hi everyone.  I found a tutorial that related to my Q on this site so hoping someone can answer this Q.

I created an html site using artisteer.  I uploaded via file manager to HostGator.  Site is live.  I would like to add artisteer blog feature to front page of site without causing any other changes.  Can I do this?  How? I know how to create the blog (make it appear) in artisteer. My Q is how I will I manage this blog once uploaded to HostGator?  Like if I add the blog, then upload the files to HG, will there be a CMS for the blog?

Thank you very VERY much for any suggestions!!

Re: Artisteer Blog

Within the context of the mojoPortal CMS, Artisteer is only a tool used to create skins to change the look and feel of the site, not to create site content. In other words, the content you see while designing in Artisteer is just for demonstration purposes. If you want to use Artisteer to create and maintain actual HTML pages, and upload those pages to become an HTML site, you should probably ask any questions about doing that on the Artisteer forum.

I hope that makes sense.

Re: Artisteer Blog

As far as I know Artisteer only designs sites but not makes them (except the pure html ones). The blog "feature" in Artisteer designer only designs the look of the blog but not makes it working when exporting to the server just files generated in Artisteer.

But if you have a license for Artisteer you probably can host your page on Artisteer server for free and use their CMS. Their CMS should give you such possibility. Or use the Mojoportal blog feature but in this case you have to install mojoportal site.

Re: Artisteer Blog

Thank you so very much.  I made a pure html site.  Now I am trying to add a blog at the bottom of the home page.  Does that make sense?  Maybe I'm confused but just following up: if I upload to artisteer, won't I have to use their domain, like www.mydomain.artisteer.net or whatever?

I was hoping to have some sort of blog integrated into my html site on my host.  Does that make sense?

I don't even know what mojoportal is and apologize if I'm on the wrong site.

Thank you both!!

Re: Artisteer Blog

You can setup site on Artisteer server directly from the Artisteer designer - it creates a subdomain ....artisteer.net (or com - I don't remember). But you can configure dns and point your own domain to their server (of course you have to configure that on both sides) and it will work.

Re: Artisteer Blog

But ... you probably will have to keep upgrading artisteer to have your site hosted over there. Secondly - artisteer CMS is simple but poor in the features. It doesn't have almost anything. If, in the future, you will want to develop your site and unrich it in f.ex. forum or some commercial features it will not work. You will have to rewrite the site. If you are here and have ASP hosting just download the mojoportal and try it. It gives you much much more.

Re: Artisteer Blog

Tomas,

Can you tell me more about mojo portal?  Is this a CMS?  I'm trying to build a couple of websites.  One is already built but can I switch to mojo portal in artisteer somehow?

Thank you!

Re: Artisteer Blog

Setting up the site takes more or less 10 minutes. And it works. Then you have to add pages, features etc.

If you don't have an asp hosting I can set up trial for you for one week. Then you can move your site to a chosen hosting.

I will be here for about 30 minutes (it is 2 am in Poland now :) ) so I can do it free for you so you can try it with your site.

If you would like write at tomasz igk [dot] pl
