Site Settings - Multiple skins and roles

Hi,

I have enabled individual pages to be configured with a skin other than the default in Site Settings due to a different layout on the startpage. Although I've not let users to be able to specify the skin in Site Settings, all roles (and not just Admin, which I want) seems to be able to choose a skin in Page Settings.

Under the security-tab/Roles I've just let Admin be able to manage skins.

Have I missed something?

Re: Site Settings - Multiple skins and roles

Hi Anette,

Sorry but permissions are not granular to that level. If you enable page level skins then anyone who has edit permissions on the page can set the skin for the page.

User skins are a different matter than page skins, that setting controls whether a user may set a skin of their own choosing to use when that user visits the site as a way of personalizing their own experience with the site.

Best,

Joe

Hi Joe

Just what I thought, but what do you think about to put it in the project list? Making it possible to decide through the security tab which roles should be able to change page skins.

Re: Site Settings - Multiple skins and roles

Hi Anette,

I'm pondering it. We already have permissions for "Roles that Can Manage Skins" that controls who can upload, download and edit skins in the browser. Possibly we could use the same permission to control who can change a skin in page settings or it may be better to make a new permission. But the permissions tab is growing to a point where I think I should implement it differently than it is now to allow plugging in new permissions more easily. I'll log this in the project tracker for more pondering.

Best,

Joe
