Nivo Slider example wanted

Hi,

I have been trying to get the Nivo Slider to work all day today with no better results than this morning.

Has anyone used it successfully that can give me a hand in getting it to work for me?

I have tried to put the code on a Content page as well as directly on a Page... neither produced anything close to working.

The example talks about this bit of code should be in the page header???? This bit of code goes in the body????  This is CSS styling... where does it go??? etc.

I know it looks like it should be a slam dunk... sorry but my basketball stinks...

Any help gratefully accepted.

Thanks in advance

Re: Nivo Slider example wanted

Hi Phill

If you can wait till the weekend, I'll have a spare hour to look at this for you.  Super busy right now.  The water is over my head and I am going down for the last count.

Re: Nivo Slider example wanted

Hi Phill

Please email me:
1) your latest skin
2) the images you want to use with Nivo
3) let me know if you will be using Nivo in the header or in the body as a feature you can install.

I'll try sometime on Saturday after I fix my plumbing problem.crying

Re: Nivo Slider example wanted

Hi Rick,

Thanks for the help. to answer your questions first...

  1. Files are on my Skydrive (https://skydrive.live.com/#!/richupload.aspx/Nivo%20skin%20etc?cid=18f973a04b9b1773&sc=documents&nl=1)
  2. Images on my Skydrive (same as above)("Basic" = slide show #1/"Advantage"= slide show #2)(Each set each image number for the order in which they are displayed)
  3. I would like to have Nivo in the body of a "Content" page.  Current design thought is that as Content it can be placed anywhere on an existing form or Content page.  If that is not possible then just have 2 pages 1 for each "Tour".
  1. Image sizes can be modified to any size to make the Tour look good.
  2. If you have any issues withe the SkyDrive please let me know.
  3. I am open to any suggestions or thoughts that will make the tour look better

Any questions of needs just let me know... I really appreciate the help...

Thanks
Phill

Re: Nivo Slider example wanted

Hi Phill

I logged into SkyDrive with my windows Live ID and got the message.

"This item might not exist or is no longer available"

Maybe it's not finished uploading yet.

Got to go out.  Will try later.

Re: Nivo Slider example wanted

Hi Phill

Got the files.

Your site is 950 wide but your images are 1024 wide so I'll resize them to about 930 wide.  That is... if you are not going to have left or right side bars where Nivo is going to be used.  Sidebars????????????

Next.  My implementation of Nivo is not finished and "as is" you can only have one instance per site until I complete it which will allow unlimited.  However...  I'll expand what I'm doing for you so you can have 2 seperate features.  Nivo 1 for Advantage and Nivo 2 for Basic.

I'll do this tomorrow (Sunday)

Rick

Re: Nivo Slider example wanted

Hi Phill

I emailed you a 3.5 Meg zip file with what you need.
Unzip the file into your website root.  Then navigate to your sites   /setup/default.aspx  to install the 2 features.

Once installed the feature Nivo will install all your "Advantage" images as a Nivo slide on a page.

The Nivo 2 features will install all your "Basic" images as a Nivo Slider on a page.

I resized all 40 images to 933 X 700 and changed them to jpg images at 50%.  This reduced the size of the images from about 200K to about 60k which will load the 25 slide show images WAY faster.

Re: Nivo Slider example wanted

Hi Rick,

Sorry I could not get to this before today but I have been stuck trying to figure out why my Backup program from Dell comes to a grinding halt at 60%.  Still not resolved but after 6 hours with Tech Supp on my machine I told them I would email when the Backup completes...

So back to the important stuff...

I am downloading my email now and will let you know how it goes...

I really thank you and feel like I need to do something to recognize your going over and above board on helping me here.... You and the others are the big reason why I keep being pushed to evaluate other system and every time it comes back to actual tools which are included and the wonderful support on the product.  A BIG thanks goes to you Rick.

Thanks
Phill

Re: Nivo Slider example wanted

Hi Rick,

I think I followed your instructions correctly.

BUT

I have tried to load the slider 2 ways... on a Content Page then on a Page Directly...

I got the same results for both scenarios....

The page shows the "Caption" bar of the image, but, it is just that as a thin line across the top of the screen. Occasionaly it will show about in inch of the image but never the whole thing.

Got any suggestions where to start looking?

Thanks
Phill
