Body layout is not clear!!!

Hi,

I am not sure where to start with this one.

I used Artisteer 3.0 to design/build the interface... so far so good.
I have imported the template into mojoPortal... so far so good.
NOW
When I scroll down the "Home" (or any) page the three column layout does not look correct to me!

It looks more like a 2 column layout with the left & center columns jammed into the left column.

I am not sure if I need to go back to the Artisteer to make corrections or the error is in the mojoPortal editors.

Got and thoughts or suggestions?
I can post the .artx file if that would help?

Re: Body layout is not clear!!!

Hi Rick,

Not sure if its related but I just noticed that all the footer information is pushed to the right of center a bit more than it shoudl be.

Re: Body layout is not clear!!!

Hi Phill

I emailed you my modified files.

I used mojoPortal 2.3.7.0 and Artisteer 3.0 (3.0.0.39952)
NOTE:  The current version of mojoPortal is only compatible with Artisteer 3.0, NOT 3.1 beta.
On the artisteer Website in the news section scroll down to June 2, 2011 and download
Artisteer 3.0 for Windows (3.0.0.39952)

I also fixed the footer alignment.

Rick

Re: Body layout is not clear!!!

Hi Rick,

Thanks a bunch it would have taken me a week to figure out what and where to fix for all that.  Thanks again.

I just downloaded, expanded and loaded the .ARTX file into Artisteer and I am seeing 4 columns!  I don’t want to touch it without checking with you first.

The next thing is to be more trusting... I loaded the files you sent into my local copy of the site and of course the layout was perfect... sorry for not trusting you enough.  And yup the footer was exactly as you said it would be... fixed

COMMENT:

I have to say that I have been receiving pressure from others to drop mojoPortal and use WordPress, that it is a WordPress superior product.  I disagree, WordPress has all these Add-On while in mojoPortal everything is already there no fudging or merging.

On top of that this is yet another example of why I chose mojoPortal over WordPress... the support by people like yourself and Joe A. make this a priceless tool

Thanks

Re: Body layout is not clear!!!

Hi Rick,

What works locally does not work on the server?

The header image is missing and all the menu items are text and in a column to the left, the right column for the Sign in/Poll/Knowledgebase is missing all together.

I changed the public web site for one of the shipped sites (artisteer-greenlagoon) that the layout works as I expect.

I am using v2.3.6.6. on the public server (doesn't work) - 2.3.6.7 on the local machine (works)... Could it be that the .7 version has enough changes in it to make it work????

Re: Body layout is not clear!!!

Hi Phill

The first thing I would suspect would be you do not have mojoPortal CSS Caching turned off.
Go to administration > advanced tools > Design tools > cache tool and it should say "Enable CSS Cashing" because it is turned off.
You want it turned off when making skin changes.  If you don't have it turned off mojo can show you weird things.

2.3.6.6 VS 2.3.6.7 should make no difference.  Joe made no skin specific changes in the last release.

LMK if the Cache was the problem.

Re: Body layout is not clear!!!

Once you are done with skin changes you want to rename the skin, ie create a new folder yourskin_v2, copy the files there, set the site to use that new skin name and turn CSS caching back on.

By changing the name, you change the url therefore all users see the new changes whereas without doing that other users may still have the old css cached in their browser because caching is based on the url.

Re: Body layout is not clear!!!

Hi Guys,

Well I did as suggested, turned OFF caching, FPTd the files again, changed the name of the folder, selected the new skin, turned cache ON... still no change... I have left it up in the hope that when you see what is happening it will spark a solution.  I even went as far as to log off close the browser (Firefox) reload and log in etc... :-(

Thanks
