Create page from an existing page

After using mojo for a few months now I noticed that every page I create I need to re-add all left / right content each time.

1.) Is there any way to create a page from an existing page to avoid the additional time of setting up content?

2.) also on the content manager is there a way to edit/add content in bulk rather than one by one?  If you have 50 pages to add new content there allot of clicks to make that happen?

Thanks in advance to anyone who has an idea on this

Re: Create page from an existing page

If your side panel content is the same on all pages, there's a way to add modules manually to the layout.master, but it's not a direction I'd favor.  There is a way to add often-used modules to new pages more readily; at the module level, click on "Security", and check the "Is Global" checkbox. After that, you'll be able to add those "global" instances directly from the page-level admin.

thanks!  "is global" made things much quicker.  I do still wish there was some kind of batch update to all for content I have in place already.

Re: Create page from an existing page

I agree, it would be awesome to be able to create a "template" page with instances of globally-used features already added via the mojoPortal UI, especially for larger sites.  I seem to recall that Sharepoint had something of the sort, so I'm pretty sure it's do-able in the mojoPortal framework. Perhaps it's something to put on the Feature Request list.

I will write it up the best I can and place it in the feature request forum.

Re: Create page from an existing page

We already have a page template system on our Road Map.

Best,

Oh, excellent! I don't remember seeing that the last time I looked at the roadmap - is that a recent addition?

Re: Create page from an existing page

That is great.  I am looking forward to using this new functionality!  Basically I envisioned the content manager publisher to have an open grid where I could change/setup many rows as I want content to appear then a button at the bottom that says UPDATE ALL.

I assume that the roadmap feature will be more advanced than that.  I will keep an eye on it.

Re: Create page from an existing page

It has been on the road map for a while but I admit the ability to configure global content from the templates is a new idea I hadn't thought of yet since the global content feature is relatively new. I just updated the work item in our project tracker to include notes about that idea. The basic plan is for it to be rather similar to what we already have for populating site content during installation. There we already have a system that allows defining content from xml files that will be used to populate the site content. I use this already to populate our demo site every time we reset it.

I'd also like to point out that currently if you have some sidebar content that you want to include in all pages you could put it directly in layout.master and then force it to show the side column(s), if you need it to be easily editable and don't want to hard code it in layout.master you could use ModuleWrapper

Best,

Joe
