Setting to make FormWizard Pro information returned in the site search functionality

Hello.  I have been using FormWizard Pro to build forms and I like it alot.  One thing that would really be useful is having the questions and Instruction Blocks included in the Site Search functionality.  Is there a setting or something I can do to make this happen?

Thanks!

Jamey

Re: Setting to make FormWizard Pro information returned in the site search functionality

Hi Jamey,

I'll make note of this request in my project tracker but honestly it seems like an unusual request and no-one else has ever requested it so I can't make any promise about it. I just don't envision most people as searching for a form to fill out, it seems like a corner case niche need. I would focus on putting the form in an obvious findable place and/or linking to it from various other content or adding a link in the footer of your layout.master file so it is easy to find.

Other options

You could put an html content feature on the same page that has related text that would show up in search, or you could use google or Bing for site search instead of the internal search engine since they index all public facing content.

Best,

Joe

Re: Setting to make FormWizard Pro information returned in the site search functionality

Hi Joe, thanks for the prompt reply and suggestions.

"but honestly it seems like an unusual request and no-one else has ever requested it" ---Nice!  I am planning on having a site where people can browse my inventory of servers, switches and sans(on a the form pro) and they can put a check next to the items they would like more information about and then fill out the text box portion with their contact info(same form) and then the form gets emailed to me with the info.  The reason I was wanting to have the site search functionality include the form parts is I use the Instruction Blocks to list some product details. I would rather have the customer stay on the site and be able to search for products instead of using Google and finding products from other sellers.  Like say I am looking for a cisco 3750 switch with lacp and etherchannel.  It would be nice to go to site search and type in cisco 3750 and have the form pop up and they can just fill it out and shoot it off!

I'll check out the html context thing and look at other options.  I wanted to ask first to see if it was possible by just cofniguring a setting some where.  It's a nice product and works great.  Thanks again and take care!

Re: Setting to make FormWizard Pro information returned in the site search functionality

Hi Jamey,

For your scenario, if you want to use the internal search, I'd suggest put the product info an in Html content instance and put the form below it on the same page.

Note also that if you use google or Bing for site search it is only searching your site its not searching the internet so it shouldn't drive users to other sites. There could be ads in the google results but the Bing site search doesn't have ads. Using either of these options though only works once your site has been crawled and indexed.

Note that on this site while we do use the internal search we also have links at the bottom of the search results page that allow you to search this site with google or Bing, so you can try those links and get an idea of how they work.

I'm not ruling out that we will ever implement search in Form Wizard, it may happen at some point, but the above approaches are what you could do today.

Hope that helps,

Joe
