Identifying SiteID other than by mp_Sites

Hi Joe et al,

After setting up 6 new subsites from one installation I am looking to import new Skins created in artisteer, however have lost track of which SiteID relates to which Site.

You may well have address this before but I can't find any reference in the Forums.

The only solution I have found is to browse the database and look at the mp_Sites table.

is this the only way to find this out or is the SiteAlias Field able to be used and rename the folder /siteid/ to an alphanumeric.

Any Thoughts?

Re: Identifying SiteID other than by mp_Sites

Hi,

To find the site ID associated with a given site, you have a couple options.

  1. In the root site, go to the Site Settings and select the site for which you need the ID. Once you do this, the URL will change to include the query parameter 'SiteID' followed by the site ID for the chosen site.
  2. Browse to the site for which you need the ID. Right click anywhere on the site and choose "View Source." Look in the header of the source for this line: <link rel='stylesheet' type='text/css' href='/csshandler.ashx?skin=mitchinson-earthy&amp;s=1&amp;v=2.3.5.5' />. The value for the query parameter 's' will be the Site ID for the chosen site.

HTH,
Joe D.

You can also add this to user.config:

<add key="ShowSiteGuidInSiteSettings" value="true" />

then in Site Settings it will show the SiteID/SiteGuid for the currently selected site.

Best,

Joe
