Form Wizard Pro - Instructions Block

When I click the "Edit Instructions" link in Form Wizard Pro, it takes me to a blank page. I have the same issue when I click "View Submission Grid" and "Browse Submissions." Here is the system log when it happens. When I saw the 'requiredPermission' reference I double checked that my Data and App_Data folders are writable. What else should I be looking at?

Re: Form Wizard Pro - Instructions Block

I have not encountered this specific error before but it looks like a trust level issue, but the method where the error happens does work in medium trust as far as I'm aware so it makes me think you are in an even more restrictive custom trust level.

You can work around the problem I think by adding this to your user.config

<add key="UseCultureOverride" value="true" />
  <add key="site1culture" value="en-US" />

then touch Web.config to make it reload settings.

Hope it helps,

Joe

Re: Form Wizard Pro - Instructions Block

Thanks Joe. I added those lines to my user.config and recycled the web config but I'm still having trouble. I still get the blank page deal. Here's what showed up in my system log this time. I'm running on standard GoDaddy shared hosting in medium trust.

Any other ideas (besides moving off GoDaddy)?

Thanks,

Joe

Re: Form Wizard Pro - Instructions Block

I cannot reproduce this problem using medium trust.

Make sure you are using the Web.config file that shipped with mojoPortal., if you upgraded don't try to keep the old one, back it up and restore customizations to the new file. Don't make any changes in the globalization element in Web.config.

Try changing the editor in site settings and see if that makes a difference.

Make sure you are using the .NET 4 version of mojoPortal and of Form Wizard.

If all else fails I would try re-deploying all the files.

That method GetDefaultCulture that is logging this error is used anywhere an editor is used so it is not specific to Form Wizard, and even if it logs that error it should not make a blank page because it still returns the current culture even if it handles that error. That is why the error says it swallowed the error, in other words it handled that error.

Hope it helps,

Joe

Re: Form Wizard Pro - Instructions Block

This issue may be caused by a folder with the same name as a web page file name.

Supposed there is a web page http://www.abc.com/test.aspx and it is working. Then, create a folder named as 'test.aspx' under web root folder, like 'root/test.aspx'. Now, open the web page in browser with url 'http://www.abc.com/test.aspx', this web page will stop working and show error messages. In the log file, similar error information will be found.

After the folder 'test.aspx' is deleted, the url mapping between 'http://www.abc.com/test.aspx' and '......Default.aspx?PageID=x' may be broken. Further effort may be required to fix this problem.

Note:

I am using Mojoportal 2.3.6.2 on IIS 7.0 and .NET 4.0 platform with a MySQL database in a medium-trust hosting environment.

Re: Form Wizard Pro - Instructions Block

no-one should be creating folders with ".aspx "in the name that is asking for problems. I would not recommend using "." in any folder name for a web site.

Re: Form Wizard Pro - Instructions Block

Accidently, I got similar error messages in log due to a mindless mistake:

When I created a subdomain, an Url was pasted into the field which needs a folder name by mistake. So, a folder like 'root/test.aspx' was created automatically by the hosting control system. It took me several hours to find this root cause that made my web page in mojoportal stop working.

After the 'root/test.aspx' folder was deleted, the Url mapping for 'http://www.abc.com/test.aspx' still has problems. Temporarily, I changed the web page name from 'test.aspx' to 'test2.aspx' in 'Page Settings'.

Thanks,

Stone
