Hey Joe, sorry to resurrect a really old thread, but I just had a request for this exact thing. Normally I recommend the RSS feed for people who want to have blog posts pushed to them (that's how I've been keeping up with your blog on mojoPortal.com), but in this particular case the site is secured and not accessible outside of our network, so even RSS reprocessing services won't work.

Have you had a chance to think this over during the last 4.5 years?

Thanks a lot Joe. I know ours is kind of an edge case--this particular blog is for a shift report that's posted several times a day, and the info is pretty time sensitive. I think we'll just recommend that in addition to the blog post a manual email be sent to a predefined distribution list. That should work until you have a supported email method in the blog. Also, the "plain text"/forum notification method you described would be perfect for our case.
