Flexible administrator roles

I would like to allow a non-"Admin" role to be able to use the Role Administration page. Maybe a "Role Administrator" could be added as a default role? Or even better a more robust scheme that allows the "Admin" role to specify which roles can access admin pages like roles, site settings, content manager, etc... Rather than hardcoding roles to these pages.

Re: Flexible administrator roles

Can you explain why you don't want to make this person an Admin? A user who can create roles and assign other users to roles is effectively an Admin in my book, they can add themselves to the Admins role so effectively they are Admins.

Re: Flexible administrator roles

In my situation there is a difference between site administration and user administration.  I would like to designate a user as someone who may manage other users excluding admins. I do not want that person to have full admin access to the website and it's underlying files via the File Manager. This is a good way to offload the responsibility of role assignment to a power user so I don't have to do it.  This way managers could control what access their employees have on the website without going through the site admin.

Re: Flexible administrator roles

I may be able to do something to support that scenario without too much effort. I'll look into it sometime soon, not for the next release though.
