Multiple Authentication Support

Gents,

Is it possible to allow LDAP (internal users on AD) and external users (customers reistering with their email address and password) to login to the same site. Ive configured my site for LDAP access and its working great. My client has customers (not having an account on the local network) which he wants to allow to register and login.

ps. I had some old accounts left over in the DB which were "external accounts", ie. accounts that do not exist on the AD. I tried logging in with those but it doesnt work. Is it possible to support both LDAP and database authentication?

Thanks

Adrian

Re: Multiple Authentication Support

This is an internet site (not intranet) and its setup to use SSL. The main reasons for the dual user authentication is that they want to allow their customers to register for newsletters etc, and also access certain pages on the site which are only avaialble to "authenticated users".

Registration of customers is also very important to them.

Finally, the need for LDAP was because a large number of employees constribute to the internet site and allowing them to manage their accounts and password through AD (and not having to remember another set of sign in details) proved to be a big hit.

Re: Multiple Authentication Support

Hi Adrian,

It is not currently possible, but I think it would not be very difficult for me to add support for this scenario.

Would you or your customer be willing to sponsor development of this to make it a priority to get it implemented soon?

If so please contact me at joe dot audette at g mail dot com.

Best,

Joe

Re: Multiple Authentication Support

Hello,

This sounds oddly like this post Active Directory User Authentication.

Within my company we want to use AD mainly because we already have 2500+ accounts build and don't really want to have to migrate them, the biggest problem that we have is people need to login with their email address, because of the situation that was listed in the post linked.

Thanks

Brian

Re: Multiple Authentication Support

This is a very old thread. As of version 2.3.5.8 and higher, you can configure mojoPortal to use LDAP fallback authentication, so you can support a mixture of internal users authenticated against Active Directory or Open LDAP, and external users authenticated by mojoPortal. Once you turn on LDAP authentication and use the fallback option key, the external users will have to sign in using their User ID rather than email address, but they can still register on your sites and have a full user experience.

Re: Multiple Authentication Support

Thanks Jamie. I use the fallback support for most site running mojo. Works a treat!
