I want to add moderate feature to the mojoportal blog module so that end user's posts can be read by an admin before being published. I'd appreciate and happy to share code if you guide me in the right direction.

I am trying the 'intensedebate' for moderation on blogs. Do you have any plans improving the comments section in near future?

Yes it is on my road map to make a new and better internal comment system. For now IntenseDebate is your best option.
