Migrating Database MySQL to MS SQL Server Express

Hi All,

I am considering moving my personal website across from one hosting to another the new hosting will use a SQL Server 2008 Express DB. Is there any easy way of moving the information from MySQL and is Mojo going to go crazy if I try it direct move.

Any help or guidance will be appreciated

Re: Migrating Database MySQL to MS SQL Server Express

Hi Tooey,

Sorry but we don't have any good way to migrate from one db platform to another.

If you were just moving to new hosting with the same db platform you could do a sql dump from mysql and then restore it on the new mysql db and that is fairly straightforward using the Sqlyog tool.

Depending how many pages of content you have copy/pasting from the old my sql site to the new mssql site might not be a huge job, but if you have a lot of content I'm sure it would be a pain.

Someday I hope to have a solution for migrating from one db to another but unfortunately today is not that day.

Best,

Joe

I thought it was a bit of a shot in the dark, copy and paste will probably be my solution on a weekend with a few beers.

Thanks for your help Joe
