Personalise feature for authenticated users

Hi Joe,

How do I personalise the feature for a particular user. I'm sure I'm missing some configuration here. Blog is something individual authenticated user should be able to edit while other authenticated users are allowed only to view. But I find the authority only upto "Authenticated users" level. Is there another level of authority like "This user" can edit while other users should have the view authority?

I would like to use it for other features lilke image gallery and event calendar also. A user should be able to set his events while publish it for other authenticated users to view his calendar.

Thanks

- Vishnu

Re: Personalise feature for authenticated users

If you want a user to be able to edit a blog, you have 2 choices, either create a new role and add the user to the role and then grant the role edit permission on the page containing the blog or edit roles on the blog, or you can also assign a specific single user edit permission.

Click the gear icon next to the title of the blog to get to feature instance settigns, then on the security tab you can see where you can enter a user or assign a role.

Hope it helps,

Joe

Re: Personalise feature for authenticated users

I guess I did not explain it clearly. I'm trying to do something similar to wordpress or blogger. Every authenticated user should be able to create and edit his/ her own blog, image gallery and event calendar while the other users are allowed to view and only comment. The other user should not be able to add more posts.

Is that possible?

Re: Personalise feature for authenticated users

We don't have a blog provisioning system. Is it possible to build one, yes.

Re: Personalise feature for authenticated users

Hi,

Has this ever been reconsidered?

In my case I would love to be able to let certain roles (e.g. authenticated users) add a blogpost, but not be able to touch the settings of the blog module. And even better ... not be able to edit other than his own post, very much like in the Forum.

Best regards

Re: Personalise feature for authenticated users

Hi Lars,

It is a planned feature to support multiple users in the blog but I'm not sure when we will get to it.

It is currently possible to specify "Roles NOT Allowed to Edit Feature Settings" from Site Settings.

Best,

Joe

Re: Personalise feature for authenticated users

Thanks - I really look forward to that and will be very happy when it happens.

Also thanks for the tip about not allowing roles to touch the settings. That solves some of it yes.

Thanks a lot,
Lars
