Unique Email Problem

This forum is primarily for reporting issues about Web Accessibility such as difficulty using mojoPortal with a screen reader or other assistive technology.

Post any feedback here related to improving the accessibility or usability of mojoPortal. As stated in our Accessibility documentation, it is an important goal of the project that both the front-end customer experience and the back end administration and content publishing features be accessible to as many people as possible. Ideally, if you post about problems, we will also be glad to have suggestions on how the problems can be fixed but all constructive feedback on these issues is welcome.

Unique Email Problem

Hi there

It seems that even with using User ID and not email to log in, I still cannot create two users with the same email address.  This presents a problem, as often people share a common email address but would prefer individual user accounts.

Can I do anything about this?

Re: Unique Email Problem

Hi,

Sorry but emails do need to be unique. You could change back to using email for login at any time and there would be duplicates if I allowed this.

2 users sharing the same email but different logins is just not a use case that makes sense to me. If they share the same email they can share the same login.

Best,

Joe

Re: Unique Email Problem

I know this is old, but I struggle with a lot of the same issues around this.

The use case is this:

- An Secretary/Office Manager monitors and responds to all emails that come in for that office.  Any and all communications go to the Office Manager b/c the Doctors/Lawyers/Whatevers are too busy to monitor email.  That's why they hire Office Managers.

- But, Office Managers need a different login than others, b/c they will have access to sensitive data about all the Lawyers/Doctors that should not be shared(like pay).

- Each individual Doctor/Lawyer may have access to reports that are just for them, so they cannot share logins.

This may be an unusual situation or a "special case", but the more MojoPortal is integrated with other systems(like we do), the more likely you will run into this.

Just my 2 cents.
