Virtual directory for "Data" folder

Has anybody ever tried physically moving the "Data" folder out of the application folder and referencing it using a virtual directory on the web server? This sure would make deploying upgrades a lot simpler.

Re: Virtual directory for "Data" folder

A virtual directory "might" work, but you should always upload the Data folder on upgrades because there may be changes or new mesage templates, help files, required images, fixes to css for existing skins or new skins, etc.

Best,

Joe

Re: Virtual directory for "Data" folder

If that's the case, I'll probably just move the "Sites" folder to a virtual directory. Thanks.
