Newsletter Templates

Joe, I am wondering when it comes to new templates if I am maybe doing it the wrong way. What I mean is that when I am adding new templates I am copying them then going to new templates and pasting it into a page. Is there a way to just load the template into my site without having to copy and paste? I know we have zips available on community down load, but without copying and pasting them into a new template, how do you get them on site?

Re: Newsletter Templates

You are doing it correctly. There is a way that templates get loaded from the file system, but this only happens on a new installation or if there are no templates yet in the database for the site. If it sees no templates in the database, it loads the "default" ones from the /Data/emailtemplates folder, but once there are any templates existing for the site the only way to add new ones is to paste them in, and this puts the template into the database.

Best,

Joe

Re: Newsletter Templates

I have been using the newsletter feature a lot lately and am considering writting some instructions for it. What you just told me is the one piece I was missing. When I get it done I will email you it as an attachment.

Re: Newsletter Templates

Hi Guys,

I am in the throws of figuring out the NewsLetter feature.

Q1 - Is there a better method to Add a New Template other than Cut & Paste noted here?

Q2 - When getting ready to send a NewsLetter can I include data fields (Name, Email, etc.) in the content (like Words Mail Merge)?
