Enable dropdown menu feature?

I would like to know how to enable/create dropdown/cascading menus for the main menu of the site that would list out the child pages for that page.

Supposedly the skin IBUYSpy was able to do this...I saw one of the demos using this in the showcase but this skin is not available in the most recent download of MojoPortal.

Can someone send it to me or better yet post it on the site for download so that we can all benefit from this feature.

Or at the very least create a short tutorial on how to enable the dropdown menus?

Re: Enable dropdown menu feature?

You can get IBuySpy skin and mojoguidetogalaxy from the community downloads page, both have this kind of menu.

This kind of menu is hard to implement well for different browsers and its also not very user friendly. Its difficult to mouse your way down through a deep hierarchy. Thats why nowadays you see more use of a horizontal menu combined with some kind of vertical or tree view menu.

I do have one new skin, coming in the next release with this kind of menu, named mitchinson-earthy, but I don't like this menu for the reasons mentioned so I also implemented mitchinson-earthy-alt1 with a different menu structure.

Hope it helps,

Joe

Re: Enable dropdown menu feature?

I am not sure if this will help anyone or if this is just plain obvious. It helps a lot with t he tabs if you keep the text as short as you can, if you use three or four words you will have problems with how many tabs you can place on a level. Such as with the mojoportal site right here usinng tabs. There is just the right length for each tabs. I have a site where all I used were chapter numbers and then created an index tab with the titles and links. It is working great that way, but with some it may not work especially if you are dealing with a complex business application. This is another reason why it is hard to work with drop down menus, I have set them up before and was always battling where it would drop too. This can get very messy.
