Forcing preferred hostname on multisite seem not to work

Hi,

I have read this great article about how to control the preferred hostname. It works well in most cases, but I can't get it to work for a childsite in a multi-site installation with hostnames (not folders). Here is the article I refer to: https://www.mojoportal.com/forcing-a-preferred-host-name.aspx

It works for me in these cases:

- Normal site with one installation and one domainname like hostname.com redirects fine to www.hostname.com

- Multisite with one installation and subfolders like hostname.com/en redirects fine to www.hostname.com/en

But here nothing happens:

- Multisite with one installation and hostnames like hostnameofchildsite.com doesn't redirect to www.hostnameofchildsite.com. In fact it redirects shows the homepage of the mothersite like hostnameofmothersite.com, but keeping the url at hostnameofchildsite.com.

Any clues? Is it me or is it a bug? My mojoportal version is 2.4.0.2 MySQL.

Best regards

Lars

Re: Forcing preferred hostname on multisite seem not to work

sounds like you forgot to add the host name mapping for "hostnameofchildsite.com" to the child site. It is redirecting fine but the host name is not assigned to the child site so the default site is shown. You need both the preferred host name to be set and the host name must be in the host names attached to the child site in the site settings of the child site from Master Site > Administration > Sites click on the child site to get to site settings and add the host name in the host name tab.

Re: Forcing preferred hostname on multisite seem not to work

Thank you, thank you so much!

I only had the www host mapping in that tab. I added the domain without www and now it works just as it should.

Sorry to bother you - and thank you very much.

Lars
