Error when installing... Invalid License Data. Reinstall is required.

When posting in this forum, please try to provide as many relevant details as possible. Particularly the following:

  • What operating system were you running when the bug appeared?
  • What database platform is your site using?
  • What version of mojoPortal are you running?
  • What version of .NET do you use?
  • What steps are necessary to reproduce the issue? Compare expected results vs actual results.

You may also want to review the installation or upgrading documentation.

Error when installing... Invalid License Data. Reinstall is required.

Hi,

This is a fresh install onto a...

Windows 8.1, MS SQLExpress, mojoPortal 2.4.0.3, I think I am running .net 4.0!

As soon as I double click on the Default file to run the setup for the first time I get a small window open with the following message...

Visual Studio 2010 Shell...
Invalid license data.  Reinstall is required.

I have no idea what this means or how to fix it.

I have checked on Bing and didn't find any issues that were the same as this.  Plenty of other issues where people had installed or reinstalled Microsoft developer products.  I cleaned this machine of development stuff when I put in a new HDD.

Does anyone have a suggestion of where to start to resolve this message?

Well after re-installing Visual Studio C#, & VS Shell, several times, and SQL Express 2008/10/13, NONE of which made any difference.  I tried to reinstall mojoPortal from CodePlex, that failed too, then I tried from WebMatrix 4.5 which failed then I upgraded WebMatrix to 4.6 and tried the mojoPortal install again and it worked.  I have no idea what the difference is but it must have un-installed something then installed the new version.

Sorry I could not provide any more help to anyone else who has this issue but it's working now and I am able to start modifying the web site to get it so suit my needs.
