Global setting to auto-lock the image property "Aspect Ratio"

In the past year I've trained over two dozen folks on adding images to HTML Content.  Almost all of them seem to mess up image aspect ratios. And most give up trying to fix it - instead they delete the image and then re-add it.  Maybe a better teacher could get them to remember the little Lock & Back/Reset icons in the Image Properties box.  I've tried and most folks forget.

When I thought about it - I couldn't think of a situation where I wanted to ever change the image ratio (although I am sure many people do).

Would it be possible to have a setting in Admin->Site Settings that the "lock" on image aspect ratio could be managed?

From my experience in training nontechnical users this would greatly improve their experience with adding images.  And then if someone would need to change the aspect ratio an Admin could quickly un lock and then relock the "lock" setting for aspect ratios.

Thanks for listening -- Joe Vago

Re: Global setting to auto-lock the image property "Aspect Ratio"

Hi Joe,

I guess you are talking about wysiwyg editor functionality? Like this article for CKeditor?

I'm not aware of a way to remove that, you may be able to find a way in their documentation or you could use browser tools inspect element and maybe find a way to hide the lock by css.

Actually uploading it again and choosing better resizing options seems like a better choice than scaling down a large image with height and width attributes unless its just a small change in size.

Best,

Joe
