ERROR mojoPortal.Web.Global [(null)]

Hey Joe.   I finally found the time to setup a new server and ran into some problems and was hoping you could point me in the right direction.

What did I screw up with the globalization?

Mono JIT compiler version 1.2.6 (/trunk/ r90877)

xsp.exe 1.2.6.0

mojoportal svn 3106

Re: ERROR mojoPortal.Web.Global [(null)]

Oh yes, I compiled it on a Suse 10.3 computer with the latest stable version of MonoDevelop.

Re: ERROR mojoPortal.Web.Global [(null)]

Hi Richard,

What about Mono? Are you compiling it from svn trunk? or what version are you using?

Does the setup page run without errors? /Setup/Default.aspx

Are you using mod_mono or just launching from the command line?

I tested yesterday with Mono r89993 compiled on my machine 11/200/2007 and the latest mojoportal works for me.

I'm in the process now of compiling Mono r90815 and see if everything is still good.

Best,

Joe

Re: ERROR mojoPortal.Web.Global [(null)]

Also the latest mojoportal is r3149, I would recommend do this:

svn revert to clean out any changes to Web.config

svn update to get latest mojoportal

rebuild with monodevelop

rename Web.config to Web.config.windows

rename Web.config.mono to Web.config

apply your connection string to Web.config or copy user.config.sample and rename it to user.config and put your connection string there

visit siteroot/Setup/Default.aspx

Hope it helps,

Joe

Re: ERROR mojoPortal.Web.Global [(null)]

Mono JIT compiler version 1.2.6 (/trunk/ r90877)

I didn't know about the Web.config.mono file.   I commented out all the webparts out manually from the normal Web.config

The setup went without any errors and I'm using apache and mod_mono on a freshly installed server.

I'll download the latest svn of mojoportal when I get a chance and recompile and try again.

Thanks!

Re: ERROR mojoPortal.Web.Global [(null)]

Hi Richard,

I just tested using Mono r90957 and everything seems working to me. I did not test mod_mono though, I just cd into the Web folder after building and run xsp2

You might try using xsp2 from the command line and see if the problems you are having are only related to mod_mono.

Hope it helps,

Joe

I'm going to test the mono 1.2.6 preview now.

Re: ERROR mojoPortal.Web.Global [(null)]

I tried mojoportal svn 3181 and mono svn 91353 with mysql and linux and it still didn't work.   Reading some of your posts you suggested that mono 1.2.4 was the last version you had working successfully.

So, I compiled the server with mono, libgdiplus, xsp and mod_mono version 1.24.   Now I get the following errors that I've read other users are getting too.

Joe, I need to get two portal servers asap.  What was the last mono and mojoportal versions that you successfully has running on a linux system?

Re: ERROR mojoPortal.Web.Global [(null)]

I forgot to mention that running xsp2 from the command line (port 8080) or mod_mono (port 80) resulted in the same output.

Re: ERROR mojoPortal.Web.Global [(null)]

Hi Richard,

I'm testing using the latest Mono from svn r91286 on opensuse 10.2, its been working for me using mono from svn all along.

I have just commited some work to mojoportal svn trunk that may help. It is now possible to build in VS (I used VS 2008) and deploy on Mono. You have to add the compiler directive MONO to the Web project. Then in you have to rename the Web.config to Web.windows.config and rename Web.mono.config to Web.config. Finally, delete the file setting.map.config as it is only used when compiling on linux using MonoDevelop against the latest mono svn head.

My windows build worked fine for me on my opensuse machine. I even used MySql instead of pgsql.

If you are compiling on linux using MonoDevelop then you can leave the settings.map.config file there and you don't have to mess with renaming the web.config, it will just use the same Web.config but it will not have errors.

The renaming of Web.mono.config to Web.config is only needed if building on windows or if using Mono version < r91286

Hope it helps,

Joe

Re: ERROR mojoPortal.Web.Global [(null)]

I also tested a recent linux build of mojoportal on Mono 1.2.6 preview 3 and it worked fine. Haven't yet tried the final.

Re: ERROR mojoPortal.Web.Global [(null)]

I'm installing VS 2008 Express right now...    I administrate Linux servers for a living, but they are all servers, no gui's.   I am more at home in VS than MonoDevelop.   At work I can't keep switching back and forth either....   I've got my notebook dual booting with Suse 10.3 for compilations and sure would like my second hard disk back.

Thanks for the input.   I'll start over and re-check everything.
