If you're a Linux and Mono enthusiast, I highly recommend GrokThis.net for hosting of mojoPortal 1.x The support I've had from GrokThis been excellent. The main developer/administrator is Eric Windisch whom I regard as a linux super guru. A number of mojoPortal sites are already running on GrokThis.net, including the mojoPortal Mono Demo site (mono.mojoportal.com) so Eric is very familiar with it and can have you up and running quickly. This site was hosted on GrokThis.net for almost a year and we will very likely move back there when the Mono project 2.0 implementation is ready and working with mojoPortal. Running on Mono has been and continues to be a primary goal for the mojoPortal project since its inception. Our recent move back to Windows hosting is because it is important to run the mojoPortal site on the latest version of mojoPortal software. In fact the mojoPortal software is tested on this site before a release is made so we really needed to be in a 2.0 .NET environment and the 2.0 mono stack is just not ready at this time. We will be continually testing the 2.x branch of mojoPortal on mono and provide bug reports and where possible test cases to the mono team to help the process along as much as we can.
Ubiquity Hosting Solutions has just added support for Mono. I don't know of anyone hosting there yet but its another option. Let me know what you think if any of you try it. |
