Using The Image Gallery

The image gallery provides a novel way to quickly and easily cycle through your images. There are two different ways to view your image items. You can view them either in an image preview window like shown below:

Or in compact view like below:

The two different styles are easily accessible from the Image Gallery control panel(feature settings). These are accessible by clicking on the gears item:

Red Circle and glow added to clarify the gears icon

This will open the feature settings window for your gallery.

  • Compact View

Compact view allows the second of our two mode images above. It adds the benefits of being able to display the image caption and image description.

  • Thumbnail Dimensions

This allows you to change the small image that you see on the page called a thumbnail. This needs to be set before uploading any images since images cannot be resized after they are uploaded, although all images added after the change will have the new dimensions

  • Thumbnails per page

This allows you to change how many of the thumbnails that are viewed in compact view, this is useful to allow you to balance load times against convenience.

Left image is standard size of 75x100 Right image is 150x200 (Image not to scale)

  • WebImage Dimensions

Changing the WebImages changes the dimensions of the non-compact mode view screen preview. This also needs to be changed before uploading photos since the image cannot be resized after upload, although all images added after the change will have the new dimensions.

640by480
640x480(default) 800x600

To add an image to the gallery firstly click the add image button next to the gears button that looks like this:

Red Circle and glow added to clarify the gears icon

A few details are needed to be provided, firstly enter a description and caption. These are only viewable within the compact view, so if you aren't planning on using this then these details are not necessary.

Lastly you need to select the image you want, use the browse function to find the image you want to upload unlike a lot of images uploaders this can take large images and resize them without issue.

Finally click update and it will save your settings and images. Now you can view your image gallery and view your image.
