mojoPortalAdvanced Web Sites Made Easy

Volume 1 Edition 1 December 2009

Merry Christmas!

Welcome to the first issue of mojoPortal News! Hopefully, going forward we will send these about once per month to announce new releases, cool mojoPortal sites and other news from the mojoPortal Community.

I've been meaning to send out a newsletter for quite a long time but just have not found the time to write content for it. We have almost 500 subscribers, so this will be an interesting test of the Newsletter. I'm using a Yahoo business email address to send it and I am curious whether this will work well or whether it may land in the spam box, If any of you do notice this message landing in your spam folder please do let me know.

I wish you all a very merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. I hope you all get to enjoy some fun and relaxation with your families.

mojoPortal 2.3.3.2 Released

Today we made a release of mojoPortal 2.3.3.2, just in time for the holidays. See the blog post release announcement for full details. Highlights of this release include a new meta data system, Google Translate integration, improved grid styling and better CSS organization.

The Year in Review

2009 has been a good year for mojoPortal. Popularity is rising and this is increasing product sales. While I'm certainly not getting rich, the last 5 months average revenue has been enough to cover my expenses so I am no longer losing money and that is a big step in the right direction. In the coming year I definitely need to add a few more paid products to the store and continue improving the free core features to make mojoPortal more popular.

Overall I'm feeling very happy about the progress we've made so far. I think anyone who tries all the content management systems in the Windows Web App Gallery will find a better out of the box experience with mojoPortal than any of the other CMS systems. I've certainly tried them all and tried to make sure that is true. Currently we are the 4th most popular download in the Gallery and the vast majority of all our downloads can be attributed to downloads from the Gallery. Usually the version of mojoPortal in the Gallery is a few versions behind the current release. I'm hoping to reduce that gap going forward but I do like to wait and see what feedback I get about the current release before submitting it to the Gallery and then there is always some time after submission before the new version appears live in the Gallery.

I'd like to thank all our community members and our growing list of partners for your participation in the community and your feedback which has been essential to the improvements we have been making. I think next year will be even better.

Warm Regards,

Joe Audette
