mojoPortalAdvanced Web Sites Made Easy

Volume 2 Edition 6 July 2010

mojoPortal 2.3.4.8

mojoPortal 2.3.4.8 was released on July 16, 2010.

The main focus of the release was consolidating support for SqlAzure into our main MS SQL data layer so we do not have to maintain a separate data layer for SqlAzure going forward. This did require us to drop support for SQL 2000.

We also introduced a new data layer for SQL CE. The SQL CE package for mojoPortal is the easiest to install of all mojoPortal packages because it does not require additional database software on the server and can even work in Medium Trust hosting. Best of all, if you outgrow SQL CE, there is an easy migration path to SQL Server.

This release also introduced a new jQueryUI datepicker.

Visual Studio Improvements

As mentioned in this blog post, the latest code in the repository now supports the Visual Studio Publish feature, and switching between the different supported databases is a simple matter of choosing the build profile.

What is coming Next?

As I mentioned in the previous newsletter, I'll be focusing in the near term on completing the first version of a new add on product In Site Analytics Pro.

One cool thing coming in the next release of mojoPortal is a new skin based mainly on jQueryUI CSS framework and jQueryUI themes. There are a bunch of standard jQueryUI themes and you can also roll your own with the jQueryUI ThemeRoller.
