mojoPortalAdvanced Web Sites Made Easy

Volume 2 Edition 2 February 2010

mojoPortal 2.3.3.9 Released

February has been a busy month, we made two releases of mojoPortal, 2.3.3.6 was released on Feb 3, and 2.3.3.9 was released on Feb 22, 2010.

Probably the most exciting improvement is that we now have easy support for creating mojoPortal skins from html templates generated by Artisteer. Artisteer makes it pretty easy to make good looking web designs even with no knowledge of HTML, CSS or Photoshop. I encourage to try the demo of Artisteer and see for yourself. If you decide to purchase Artisteer, please click one of the ads on our site so we can make an affiliate commission on the sale, it costs you the same either way but it is a good way to support mojoPortal.

We are continually trying to learn from our newsletter process, if any of you notice this message landing in your spam folder please do let me know.

Form Wizard Pro 0.0.1.5

We also released a major upgrade to Form Wizard Pro this month. It is a free upgrade for existing customers but does require the latest version of mojoPortal.

It now has support for multi page forms or surveys.

You can import and export complete form definitions.

You can import and export individual questions, so if you make a state list dropdown you don't have to type it again, just export it and then you can import it in a different form to re-use it.

Support for additional instruction blocks arranged by drag and drop among the questions.

Support for regular expression validation and more.

mojoPortal on YouTube

We are beginning to create nice tutorial videos on the mojoPortal Channel on YouTube. Special thanks to community members Vitaliy Akudovich and Olga Kulahina who have been producing some very nice user training videos. We are also embedding these videos in pages on mojoportal.com to make them easy to find.

YouTube

My focus for the coming month will be to create a series of developer training screen casts to help make it easier for developers to learn how to get started and the right way to organize custom code to keep it separate from mojoPortal. As popularity of mojoPortal continues to grow the volume of questions in the forums is also growing rapidly. My hope is that by improving the documentation and creating better training videos it will be easier to handle the growth in our community. There are many common questions that come up frequently. My plan is to produce screen casts that answer many of these and provide the background knowledge needed. Keep an eye on our blog as I will announce new screen casts there as they become available.

Warm Regards,

Joe Audette
