Event Calendar Pro Registration and PayPal

I have an issue(s) that doesn't seem to have been addressed previously.  Nor, am I certain as to whether it is a feature request or I just need pointed in the right direction to configure.

When using Event Calendar Pro and registering for an event and choosing to pay with the PayPal option, how can I get the previously filled out registration info (name, address..) completed in the mojo reg form to populate the PayPal form?

Previously, I just accepted this as a two step data entry process, but recently I signed up for something online and paid with PayPal and my registration info populated the PayPal form.  This example was not using mojoportal - just simply enlightened me to the possibility.

Re: Event Calendar Pro Registration and PayPal

Hi Bob,

When users check out with PayPal they don't have to fill in any form on the mojoPortal site, PayPal requires us to not require them to do that, the form is used only when charging cards directly like with Authorize.NET.

We do get the customer information from PayPal after the order is completed, but I think if the user signs into PayPal then PayPal will pre-populate their own form with the information they have from previous orders by the user.

Hope that helps,

Joe

Re: Event Calendar Pro Registration and PayPal

Joe,

Thanks for the follow up.  Unfortunately, I don't really follow the answer.  Let me ask a different way.

I am using your Event Calendar Pro module, which allows for event registrations, as you know.  I have configured my ecommerce/PayPal settings allowing a person to register and pay for an event using PayPal Standard.  The process involves completing the event registration form form my event and then clicking the PayPal button to launch the PayPal gateway and remit payment.  Non-PayPal account holders must then complete the PayPal form (name, address, etc..), which requires two points of data entry (at least how i have it configured now).

I decided to inquire after signing my daughter up for a lacrosse camp with our local lacrosse association.  Now that organization uses a completely different web solution and i don't know what is behind it.  But, similar to mojoportal, I chose to register for the event and completed a registration form.  They also had a "check out with PayPal" button to remit payment.  To my surprise, the PayPal form (name, address, etc..) had my information autofilled.

I thought that was very cool and wonder if I can do that with mojo.

Thanks.

Re: Event Calendar Pro Registration and PayPal

Hi Bob,

The registration form is only shown in Event Calendar Pro if you have Authorize.Net enabled because we need to capture the customer information before submitting the card information when using Authorize.net, otherwise the customer information form is not even shown in Event Calendar Pro.

If you have both Authorize.NET and PayPal enabled the form is shown but users do not need to fill it out in order to pay with PayPal, they can just click the PayPal button and go directly to PayPal, it is not required that they fill in the form before doing that. Same with google checkout.

Don't you have a PayPal account? I assume you do since you must have one to also use PayPal on your own site, so I believe when you got to PayPal they knew who you were based on an existing cookie so they were able to pre-fill the form.

Hope that helps,

Joe
