Strange titles in Feed Manager

Hi

I'm trying to setup the Feed Manager and pull in some google alerts (which can be setup as RSS feed).

But the titles show up with some HTML code (textconstruct) like this:

<TextConstruct type="html" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2005/Atom">Firma team challenge - Fredericia Fag- &amp; Firma Idrætsforbund <b>...</b></TextConstruct>

22-02-2011
FAS Adventure Race. Dato: Torsdag, 17. februar. Tid: Beskrivelse: Foreningen Frederiksberg Adventure Sport arrangerer dette begynderløb også med lidt ...

As you may see the content text works well even in my native culture (danish).

Are there any settings that I'm missing or is it a bug?

My setup is this:
Mojo version 2.3.5.8
MySql 5.1
Windows IIS7

Best regards

Lars

Re: Strange titles in Feed Manager

Hi Lars, I tried setting up a Google Alert RSS feed and got the same issue happening. It's Google that's putting the tags into the feed item titles, which is not really expected. This may actually be a feature request for Feed Manager to strip HTML from titles as part of the "Filter Invalid Markup and Potentially Dangerous Content From Feeds" feature setting.

As a workaround, you could try working with Yahoo Pipes, to see if there's a way to strip those tags from the item.title element of the feed entries.

Re: Strange titles in Feed Manager

Thanks, Jamie,

Yahoo pipes works as an interim solution. It in fact strips the textconstruct tags and only leaves some bold tags, which makes the text much more readable. I'm sure there is a way to get the last ones away, but I just haven't figured it out yet.

By the way, Yahoo pipes, is a cool application. It really makes the pre-processing of feeds and searches easy and flexible before taking it all into MojoPortal. Thanks for the tip smiley.

I also look forward to this issue maybe being solved in later releases.

Thanks,
Lars

Re: Strange titles in Feed Manager

You bet, Lars, I'm glad it's working for you. I also don't like relying too heavily on Pipes, in case it goes away one day, but it sure is a great service!
