Basic Artisteer question - what template to choose?

I have only just downloaded Mojo, installed and configured, then though I need to customise the templates (skins) so have just downloaded Artisteer - but what template type should you choose? There are many types including other CMS, but no Mojo.

I'm guessing this should be set to an ASP.NET application, or should it just be HTML? And then how should a chose template be exported ready for Mojo?

Many thanks

Chris

Hi Chris,

Welcome to mojoPortal! We're glad to have you here.

You need to use the HTML template in Artisteer. The documentation on this is pretty good, I suggest you take a look at after you have exported your HTML template from Artisteer.

Hope This Helps,
Joe D.

Before you begin working heavily on your Artisteer skin, be sure to check the "Tips for Working with Artisteer" section of that documentation to help you set some important parameters in Artisteer (width, number of columns, etc.). Joe A. mentions that you should use a 30px gap at the top to leave room for the mojoPortal links, but I've personally found that 20px seems to provide just the right amount of gap.

Re: Basic Artisteer question - what template to choose?

Many thanks both for your answer. I did actually read both this documentation, the forums and checked out the Artisteer site, but none of these actually answered my question directly. I maybe able to infer the answer, but i would rather have a straight answers.

When you start Artisteer, you have the choice of selecting a template style (Blog on Blogger.com, Jomia, HTML Page, ASP.Net Application etc), and then you have the choice of how you want to export (Visual Studio C# Project, or HTML page). All I wanted to know is what should the template in Artisteer be set to as there is no specific Mojoportal template style?

From re-reading again (and from what you have said above), I'm guessing that the Export should be to HTML Page, although I'm still not sure what the template should be set to - perhaps also HTML page?

Of course, the way you set the template and export will also depend on the price you need to pay for Artisteer. I am lookingto get an Academic license, but this version will not export as either a specific CMS template style or ASP.Net application, so the question still really need to be answered simply.

Can someone say definitively then, what the template in Artisteer needs to be set to and what you should export to.

Cheers

Re: Basic Artisteer question - what template to choose?

You should export as Html, as it says in the first sentence in the documentation.

As of version 2.3.3.9, we have made changes in mojoPortal to make it easy to use Html template designs exported by Artisteer.

I think it is better to get the Standard version of artisteer because "I think" it has more textures colors and other reources. If the only difference is the export then I guess Academic is probably ok but I don't think that is the only difference.

And apologies to Joe, who in his second sentence he said:

"You need to use the HTML template in Artisteer."

It's been a long day!

Hi Chris,

You have no idea how many time I have read things and not seen the answer until someone beat me over the head with it. I do it all the time.

Glad you found it, without anyone beating you. :-)

Take Care,
Joe D.
