Error when accessing MYSQL database - trying to write to a Temp file

This morning I started to get an error on my site when the system tries to access any functions that require writing to the MYSQL tables. This is what I am seeing on the system log:

Do you know why the system would be trying to write to a temp file like that?

I appreciate your help on this. The interactive part of my site is down and I need some help.

Thank you very much

Eduardo

Re: Error when accessing MYSQL database - trying to write to a Temp file

mojoPortal just talks to MySql through the MySql connector, I have no idea about what MySql server does internally or about any temp files it may try to create. Possibly your MySql installation does not run as a user with sufficient permissions to create needed files or possibly you are out of disk space or at least disk space allocated for MySql.

Google search of this error should help.

Hope it helps,

Joe

Re: Error when accessing MYSQL database - trying to write to a Temp file

Joe,

My hosting company fixed the error with the permissions and the database started working ok. Apparently, they had moved my site to a different server cluster but did not update the security.

The only issue now is that the database may have gotten corrupted. It works ok when accessed through the web site and the Administration functions. However, if I try to access it through MySQLAdmin or another program that accesses the tables directly, I get the following message and cannot see any of the content of the tables.

9- Unexpected eof found when reading file '.\386_mojoportal\/mp_testdb.frm' (Errcode: -1)

Do you know what this is about?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Eduardo

Re: Error when accessing MYSQL database - trying to write to a Temp file

Hi Eduardo,

It sounds like your web host failed to update their mysql tools or your account or something to reflect the new location of your website. You should probably contact them about it b/c if your site is working, your database is working.

HTH,
Joe D.
