Form Wizard Pro

Hi Joe, we bought Form Wizard Pro and have been working with it. My webmaster found an important capability that's missing from the product--hopefully it won't be too hard for you to add this.

We need to be able to add instructional plain text entries within the form itself. As an example, take a look at our current repair request form here.  The name and address section at the bottom has its own introductory block of text. I was thinking this could be as simple as adding a "question" type of "non-prompting text."

An additional enhancement that would be handy for us is the ability to add separator bars and/or some kind of box around groups of fields. This would be very useful for groups of check boxes, for instance.

Thanks, Joe!

Re: Form Wizard Pro

Hi Jamie,

I'm actually working on some improvements for Form Wizard Pro. I will keep this feedback in mind and see what  I can come up with.

Best,

Joe

Re: Form Wizard Pro

Hi Jamie,

fyi, I'm very close now to completing the next release of Form Wizard Pro. I'm going to have to wait until I release the next mojoPortal though because it depends on a few new helper methods. It's going to be a significant upgrade (free to all existing customers of course). The main improvements are:

  • Support for multi page forms aka surveys
  • New Instruction Block pseudo question type (just what you asked for)
  • Import and Export of complete Form definitions with questions (as xml)
  • Import and Export of individual questions (as xml) no more creating that state dropdown list over and over again ;-)
  • Submissions grid is now a full screen dialog
  • new Submissions browser dialog allows scrolling one at a time through submissions
  • Support for regex validation on TextBox questions

Best,

Joe

Re: Form Wizard Pro

Hey Joe,

Is this at a state that can be installed on demo.mojoportal.com?

If not, that's cool; I'm just asking.

Thanks,
Joe D.

Re: Form Wizard Pro

It's ready to ship but I don't want to put it on the demo site until it is available for purchase, otherwise customers will see the additional functionality and then be disappointed when they buy the product and it doesn't have the same features. I plan to make a new release of mojoPortal in the next few days and then I will make the new release of Form Wizard available in the store as well as putting it on the demo site. The new version of Form Wizard will require upgrading mojoPortal to the new version, so I have to release a new version of mojoPortal first.

Best,

Joe

Re: Form Wizard Pro

fyi, the new version of Form Wizard is available. Existing customers can download it from My Account > Order History. You do need to upgrade to mojoPortal 2.3.3.6 first.

I was going to blog about the Form Wizard release today but I wanted to make a new tutorial/demo video first and spent most of the day with technical difficulties. I will try again tomorrow.

Best,

Joe

Re: Form Wizard Pro

Hey Joe, thanks so much for incorporating that change into FWP. My folks really love it!

This isn't a request for us, but just a "for your consideration" observation: A colleague of mine thought that you might want to consider changing the way the page breaks work. If you could implement page breaks the same way you implement the other questions, page breaks could appear as simple separators in the form edit view, and that would allow dragging/dropping of questions between pages, as well as making for an easier overview of the whole survey during design.

Thanks again for making this change!

Jamie
