Re: Rate this Content about

Hi Volkan,

As far as I know, the current comment and rating system isn't complete. If you take a look at the roadmap (http://www.mojoportal.com/roadmap.aspx), you will see those items listed.

If you take a look at this blog post (http://www.mojoportal.com/content-rating-system-and-feed-manager-improvements.aspx) from a long time ago, Joe Audette mentions that there is currently no way to see the submitted comments.

Joe A, do you think a simple facility for viewing submitted comments can be added to a release in the future?

Thanks,
Joe D.

Re: Rate this Content about

I've implemented this for the coming release. You can try it now on demo.mojoportal.com. I also just put up another interim build on Novell Forge but it has an error in this functionality do to an error in a sql procedure. I fixed the procedure after discovering the error on the demo site so it will be fixed in the final release and/or the next interim build.

For admins and content admins the text showing the total votes will be a link to a dialog that shows all the ratings and comments.

Best,

Joe

Re: Rate this Content about

hi Joe Audette,

  i tried again and dont got problem, working correctly, then I added 5 messages, but the votes I saw the first post I clicked the link and optional e-mail address I could not see. but working only home page.  I've created a new text in the blog page (on demo.mojoportal.com) but the votes did not occur on the link...

my test results on demo mojoportal ;

- Home page correctly working but only see first message and didnt see optional mail.

- I've created a new text in the blog page but the votes did not occur on the link.

- Dont got any browser problem ( Safari browser and Windows Internet Explorer ).

-When I login, if the home page "votes" includes, "Give feedback on this content" window automatically, without clicking on the stars is opening itself.  [If you want to ignore it. Perhaps the problem was caused by me. because 6 hours ago I was having this problem, but did not live in my current experiment.]

Thankyou again for mojoportal and help  Cool,

Volkan PEKGOZEGU

Re: Rate this Content about

Hi,

It is designed to prevent repetitive voting.

If the user is authenticated then we create the rating with the userGuid, if he votes again we just update his existing vote.

If the user is not authenticated we detect whether there has been a rating for the same content from the same ip address within the last 5 minutes. We only allow 1 vote every 5 minutes form the same ip address if the request is not authenticated as a user. The 5 minutes can be adjusted by adding this to user.config and changing the value:

<add key="MinutesBetweenAnonymousRatings" value="5" />

without this, web bots would/could post over and over making the results not very useful.

I will experiment with it and see if I find any issues but thought I should clarify what it is supposed to be doing.

Best,

Joe

Re: Rate this Content about

fyi, I fixed the issue about the blog not showing the link for viewing the ratings. Everything else seemed to work as designed.

A new build mojoportal-build-2009-11-06-mssql.zip is available from our Novell Forge download page with this fixed.

Thanks again for the beer! I really appreciate it.

Best,

Joe
