chrome and firefox: fckeditor is not shown completely

I am not talking about those two bugs:

http://www.mojoportal.com/Forums/Thread.aspx?pageid=5&mid=34&ItemID=2&thread=3202

http://www.mojoportal.com/Forums/Thread.aspx?pageid=5&mid=34&ItemID=2&thread=3164

I noticed this from 2.3.0.1; i get the problem in both chrome and firefox, and it occurs "at random"

this problem:

i have no idea about the cause...

Re: chrome and firefox: fckeditor is not shown completely

I have noticed this in Chrome as well but have not noticed it in Firefox. When I click in the editor it seems to jump back to full size.

Nothing that I know of has changed in the editor and the issue seems to be independant of skins so I figured its the result of a browser update. I'm not sure if there is anything I can try to work around it. If it only happened in some skins I would try experimenting with css.

Re: chrome and firefox: fckeditor is not shown completely

This might be a new issue but this was the closest I could find when I did a search and it seems to be similar to a problem I'm experiencing.

The admin panel jumps in Google Chrome but there is also the issue of the main content panel jumping a few pixels across the page when I switch pages even when I'm not logged in. This seems to be caused by having different amounts of content in each page. For example:

Page 1 has 1 HTML module containing some text on the left hand panel

Page 2 is blank

When I switch between pages the content panel moves.

But I might add another page with a module on the left hand side and there is no "jump"! This is very hard to work out what is happening.

I was about to investigate but thought I'd try a couple of other browsers first and found the issue is restricted to Google Chrome. I was going to use mojoPortal for a charity website so it's probably not a major issue but it would be good to get it fixed. I was about to investigate myself but don't want to waste time if it's already being worked on or if there is a fix. Any replies to this most welcome.

Incidentally the other details are:

OS: Windows 7

DB: SQL Server 2008 R2 Express

mojoPortal version: 2.3.6.6

Re: chrome and firefox: fckeditor is not shown completely

Its not a bug in mojoPortal if you have problem with a skin and your question is not at all related to the topic of this thread which is FCKeditor so it would have been better to start a new thread in the skin forums than opening up this old discussion again.

Sounds like a timing issue where the CSS or javscript is applied after the  page loads and you see some visible movement as the style is applied.

I'd suggest make sure you are not using a debug build of mojoPortal as that could be just enough slower to load to make an issue like that happen. I would also make sure you have caching enabled for the CSS.

At the end of the day mojoPortal just delivers html and CSS and javascript to the web browser and the browser does the rendering, any visual issues would be solved by changes to the markup, CSS, or custom javascript.

Hope that helps,

Joe
