E store development

Hi Joe

Could you tell me whether theres any intended future development coming up on the E-store

I would like to produce a site with an e-store that has product categories, stock levels, and the ability to hook it up to a payment gateway other than paypal or googlecheckout.

From your site its says theres not much more left to do to complete the module. I would be looking to do the work myself in august/september but thought it would be best to check first with yourself.

My intended site has a full blown marketing strategy, everythings set up with the printers and should get quite a lot of press, and of course will have a link to mojoportal to promote your cms

Thanks

Tim

Re: E store development

Hi Tim,

Improving the WebStore feature is part of my larger strategy to improve the popularity of mojoPortal. I talk about this on my road map, I need to first build a category/tagging system in the core of mojoPortal so we don't have to keep implementing it over and over in each feature.

It also needs more work to implement shipping calculations against web services by UPS, Fedex, DHL etc.

I plan to get to this as soon as possible but I have a lot of things to work on. Unfortunately I'm not at a point where its easy for me to delegate or get other developers involved in features that I am working on. Generally it goes faster working by myself as getting others involved requires more formal processes and this slows things down. Once I reach profitability then it will be easier for me to spend time coordinating the efforts of others but right now this takes time awayform development and I have to stay focused on my personal goals of reaching profitability. So I need also to work on more products to sell and this may delay progress on the store itself yet I'm not willing to let someone else in on the WebStore development as I feel its important for me to get that feature right according to my own evolving vision for it. What can I say, I'm an artist and a control freak ;-) Hope you can understand. You can be sure that the WebStore functionality will get to where it needs to be but I can't specify a timeline for it.

Best,

Joe

Re: E store development

Hi Tim,

Of course you are free to do that if it gives you more ability to meet the timeline for your own project. But even though I can make you no promise as to how soon the WebStore improvements will happen, it would surpise me if you manage to complete your own version of it before I finish mine.

Best,

Joe

Re: E store development

Hey sorry for late reply,

I shall give it my best shot! I have 2 months to complete it in, and looking to use http://www.sagepay.com as the payment gateway which may be of interest to you in the future :)

Thanks

Tim
