mojo and the Web Platform Installer

I went to install mojoPortal with the Web Platform Installer 2.0 Beta from Microsoft and the version it wanted to install was 2.3.0.1. Does anyone know how the WPI gets updates to the applications it can install? More specifically, how does one update WPI to use the latest and greatest mojoPortal? Is this something we can do as users or does it need to be published by Joe Audette and team?

Re: mojo and the Web Platform Installer

Hi Joe,

You can use the Platform Installer to install the latest deployment downloads mojoPortal (at least in IIS7) by using the "Import Application" feature of the platform installer.

As far as installing from the Web App Gallery its a bit delayed vs releases. There is a process where we have to submit a form and a new md5 hash of the file and the new file url and then they review and test each updated submission on their staging servers and eventually it gets updated in the Gallery.

So the 2.3.0.1 version made it into the Gallery just before 2.3.0.4 was released. We have short release cycles in mojoPortal and I don't want to become a pain for the IIS team that manages they gallery, so I may only submit every other release or when there are significant new features or improvements going forward.

Best,

Joe

Re: mojo and the Web Platform Installer

I knew about he Import Application feature but I have yet to use it.

As far as the Web App Gallery, I figured that was the case. I understand your motivation for not submitting all releases.

Thanks for the quick response.
