Google Analytics

Joe, have you looked into using google goals and funnel yet? This is found on the same page (Google Analytics) where you set profile settings. You can set a funnel goal to a page that you want to see if customers are following the path (these are my words). Directions are right there to tell you what it needs to look like. I mention this also for others who may be interested in this use of Google Analytics?

Re: Google Analytics

Yes, but I'm just learning about making my own goals and funnels. After I learn more about it I may have additional ideas about things we can do in mojoportal to help with tracking some potential funnel goals like possibly new user registration.

One thing I plan to do is set a goal that a visitor reaches the order details page in WebStore which only happens when a user makes a purchase. As I make sales and gather data I will have a better idea of what to recommend people do to setup goals and funnels.

The book I have explains it pretty well, but as you can imagine I'm channeling my effort onto a lot of fronts and analytics is just one of them.

Best,

Joe

Re: Google Analytics

Hi Joe,

Its been a while since I last posted. I am trying to figure out the best option to get stats out of my site which is an INTRAnet and not a publicly accessible site. How would google analytics handle the stats if my site wont allow it in without a domain account to login with? I mean, only staff members who have LDAP accounts can access the pages so anonymous access is prohibited.

Is there any way that a module could be built (or already has been built) that can lookup data from the mojo database itself to provide stats?

Am I better off using a log analyser?

Hope you can help.

Thanks.

Dominique

Re: Google Analytics

If the intranet users are connected to the internet so it can load the google javascript, it should still log to google analytics. Though I'm not sure what their policy is about intranets. In order to activate google analytics you have to upload as file and google has to be able to retrieve it. So, if its an extranet, ie an internet web site but only authorized users can sign in, that should work fine, but in a real local area network it may not be possible.

There is nothing in mojoportal to provide any rich traffic analysis, the logs are the best bet. There are various free and commercial log analyzers that provide good reports.

Best,

Joe
