Child site naming...

  • What operating system were you running when the bug appeared?
  • What database platform is your site using?
  • What version of mojoPortal are you running?
  • What version of .NET do you use?
  • What steps are necessary to reproduce the issue? Compare expected results vs actual results.

Child site naming...

Hi,

I have screwed up and would like to correct my mistake if I can.

I have created a main site and 4 child sites under it using mojoPortal.  I followed the help page that made is very easy to create all the sites.

My problem is the naming of the child sites.  My structure looks like this:

www.AnalogGoesDigital.com
    1
    2
    3
    4

I would like to know if I can change the names of the child sites to something like:

www.AnalogGoesDigital.com
    Sailing
    RockNRoll
    GoingDigital
    Retirement

Is it possible to change the names?

I have to assume that since no-one has sent any solutions or suggestions to my issue that I have worded it poorly...

I created a web site with child sites with the following names...

www.AnalogGoesDigital.com/5/default.aspx
www.AnalogGoesDigital.com/2/default.aspx
www.AnalogGoesDigital.com/3/default.aspx
www.AnalogGoesDigital.com/4/default.aspx

The root site www.AnalogGoesDigital.com is simply that "a root site".  It is a doorway to or introduction to each of the child sites.  Which contains the real content.

To have the map make more sense to the use who might want to bookmark a shortcut I would like to rename each of the sites to their real name value.  I would like to rename each to the following...

www.AnalogGoesDigital.com/5/default.aspx -> www.AnalogGoesDigital.com/RockNRoll/default.aspx
www.AnalogGoesDigital.com/2/default.aspx -> www.AnalogGoesDigital.com/LifeAfterAnalog/default.aspx
www.AnalogGoesDigital.com/3/default.aspx -> www.AnalogGoesDigital.com/MousePad/default.aspx
www.AnalogGoesDigital.com/4/default.aspx -> www.AnalogGoesDigital.com/Retirement/defaupt.aspx

Can anyone offer a solution to the best method or point me to a Help Page that will guide me to the answer.   I know Joe has written tones of Help for mojoPortal and it's all great stuff, but there is so much of it sometimes its hard to find the page I need.

Okay... it was a prity simple fix when I did some digging and thought hard about the situation... and yes it did give me a headache!!! :-(

Anyway the solution was simple this...

Login as Administrator...

Select administration from the menu

Select Site List from the menu system

Select any of the sites listed by clicking on the Site Settings link

Click on the tab marked Folder Site Mapping

in the text box provided add the new title for the site

Click on the Add Folder Mapping button

Click on Save at the bottom of the page

The new Child site name has been saved.  Now go to the links or buttons and change the value to the new name.

Works great...

 

I know how Joe does this... just when you get frustrated enough he mind melds with you and passes along the solution.
