Exporting from Artisteer 4.2 to mojoportal 2.4.0.3

Hi,

I am using Artisteer 4.2 Home edition, so the plug in will not work for me.  I did actually tried it.

Do the same rules apply as for Artisteer 4.2 as for ver 3.1?

Are there any tricks to exporting from Artisteer 4.2 as a Web Template that will make it go smoothly when I import it into my mojoportal project?

Thanks for any help I can get.

Phill

Hi.

In previous versions (older 4.2) You could instal trial version Standart edition and export project.

http://www.artisteer.com/?p=downloads

Please feel free to download Artisteer from the locations below.
When in trial mode Artisteer does not support saving your web design project, but you can still create and export your web design as HTML, theme, template or skin.
NOTE: Starting with Artisteer 4.2 it is not possible, to export Joomla, Wordpress and Drupal themes in trial mode.

we do not support the "Home edition" of Artisteer, if you want to use Artisteer, get the full version and use the plugin

Re: Exporting from Artisteer 4.2 to mojoportal 2.4.0.3

Well I am sorry to hear that you no longer support the Home version of Artisteer.  The Standard edition is too expensive for my pockets and for as few sites as I have or use it on it just does not make it cost effective.

It is a pity as in the past you have been very helpful and co-operative with getting products and especially Artisteer to work in your environment.

Thanks

Re: Exporting from Artisteer 4.2 to mojoportal 2.4.0.3

we never supported home edition. Artisteer support is better today than it has ever been with our free plugin. The plugin means we no longer have to support manual steps with exported html

you personally have exceeded your lifetime support quota from me with nearly 400 support questions on your old account and used up more than enough of my time for one lifetime, so excuse me if I don't wish to give you any more of my time or don't seem enthusiastic to help you, frankly I'm not.

Re: Exporting from Artisteer 4.2 to mojoportal 2.4.0.3

Gee, I see you have moved toward airing your dirty laundry in your own open forums!

Your comments are not very nice and does nothing for me to move forward with using or recommending your product. I have been a big fan and consistently supported and recommended mojoPortal, and it's support, to everyone I could for almost 5 years now.

I was not going to use mojoPortal for this site as other tools were more highly recommended, but I opted to use it as I knew how it worked, basically, and felt I could get support if needed.  Also with this web site I had taken your advice and had it hosted on Arvixe, which is not all you cracked it up to be.  They have performed the basic install of mojoPortal, but not the latest version, and give me some support but there response times are not the fastest I have experienced from hosting services.  But this is not a gripe about companies supporting your product but you and your support of your own product.

If you look back I have been quite generous with beer and coffee donations on my part.  I am not a company nor am I a big guy in any fashion and to receive such a negative response only makes me want to immediately dump mojoPortal and move on.

I am not asking you to do the job just give us poor guys who only work on one site every now and then a helping hand.  And make us feel like we are wanted and without us little folk, and our support, you wouldn't have any sort of product count out there at all.

I have also noted that you advertise Arvixe and Artisteer but they do NOT advertise nor really give any more support to mojoPortal than any other product.  Seems to me that you are rapidly loosing ground in the web tool market and should be doing all it could to garner good customer retention.

So thanks but I believe that if this is your new Customer Service model I will be moving on.

Thanks

Phill

Re: Exporting from Artisteer 4.2 to mojoportal 2.4.0.3

Phill,

You stated:

"It is a pity as in the past you have been very helpful and co-operative with getting products and especially Artisteer to work in your environment."

Joe gives mojoPortal away for free and he gives away the Artisteer plugin. He was helpful by giving both of these products of his time and energy to you. The home version of Artisteer is no longer supported because the amount of time it took to make changes to mojoPortal to continually support Artisteer with every version they release was taking too much time away from developing other features of mojoPortal. The plugin helps with mojoPortal's support of Artisteer easier and exporting a mojoPortal skin from Artisteer easier than it ever was before. Unfortunately, Artisteer doesn't allow their home version to take advantage of their plugin system, that's not mojoPortal's fault.

Your suggestion that Joe is no longer helpful or cooperative probably made him feel as if all of the support he has given you is not appreciated. Had you not went that direction, there are probably a few people who would have happily taken your Artisteer project file and created an export for you.

Joe does recommend Arvixe hosting but I don't think he goes around preaching about how great their hosting is. He also recommends to those who require a bit more support for their hosting to use my company, i7MEDIA.

Joe provides nearly all of the free support on these forums so you have no basis to say he doesn't support mojoPortal.

Thanks,
Joe D.

Re: Exporting from Artisteer 4.2 to mojoportal 2.4.0.3

Joe D,

Thanks for your retort, but if you read my comments I stated that I acknowledge that Joe gives mojoPortal and its support away for free and that it was and is appreciated.  Without his support I could not have completed the projects.  Unfortunately all those web sites have been abandoned and sadly fallen by the wayside.

I also stated that over the different projects I have had, which I do for free too, that when ever I used mojoPortal support at the end I had been quite generous with the Beers and Coffees and if I did not give enough it is because I don't have any money.

I am retired and on living on disability, which ain't much!

You will also notice that I made my comments about his support for the current user interface after he turned me away.  Because this is a site I am doing for free and with my limited income I can no longer afford to buy the full versions of software to support other software.  Then to have to buy another tool to export that tools code to import it into the original tool, in the and almost $200, just adds cost to a non-extinct budget.  Sorry guys but that's the reality of things.

All I was asking for is documentation on how to correct and export Artisteer 4.2 Home files so they will work with mojoPortal. Not do the job for me. (Although I did email your company for an estimate and I am sorry but it is, as I expected, not within my pocketbook (as reasonable as it is).)

Now my dilemma... I have a webs site that is almost complete with content but not the interface I think will make it shine.  So do I continue to spend hours messing around with code I do not understand, or ditch the entire toolbox and start again with another product that I will have to learn?

Phill
