Bad domain apppearing in sitemap.ashx

I have a site that was initially set up under one domain, then changed to another. The first address still works (IIS host headers) but I have my site set with the "Preferred Host Name" setting to push everything to the new one.

When I submitted my sitemap to Google, it warned me about several "not allowed" URLs, and if I visit sitemap.ashx in the browser I can find several page addresses that use the original domain.

This looks like a bug, but I thought I'd ask here first!  Why is this and how do I fix it?

The site map is here http://www.esdmdata.co.uk/SiteMap.ashx

and the bad pages are the ones using www.esdm.no-ip.co.uk

Re: Bad domain apppearing in sitemap.ashx

only way I know of to make that happen is if you put a fully qualified url in page settings instead of using the ~/pagename syntax

Hope that helps,

Joe

Re: Bad domain apppearing in sitemap.ashx

That's what I would have thought, but I've checked the pages and they all have a relative path, e.g. for "<loc>http://www.esdm.no-ip.co.uk/gis-courses</loc>" I find this in page settings "~/gis-courses".

However, I have also noticed that this page appears in the sitemap.ashx twice, once with the "good" domain and once with the old one, the former having a recent lastmod date, the latter with a lastmod date from August 2011. I'm puzzled how this would be possible!

Re: Bad domain apppearing in sitemap.ashx

I'd say you have 2 copies of the page existing in your site, one with a fully qualified url and one without. The one with the fully qualified url might be marked as "Include In Menu" not checked so only one appears in the menu. You can find such pages under Adminsitration > Add/Edit Pages aka PageTree.aspx

no way is mojoPortal creating duplicates especially duplicates with different properties, these pages must exist.

Hope that helps,

Joe

Re: Bad domain apppearing in sitemap.ashx

I cannot find any trace of this particular "gis-courses" page being duplicated in PageTree.aspx.

Time to look in the database...

Re: Bad domain apppearing in sitemap.ashx

SiteMap.ashx is populated from the same sitemapdatasource as the menu. The only difference is it filters by IncludeInSearchMap whereas when databinding the menu we filter for IncludeInMenu.

It is a collection of pages straight out of mp_Pages table selected by siteid.

Re: Bad domain apppearing in sitemap.ashx

Thanks Joe - I found them in the database - the pages had been given different friendly names meaning I couldn't see them in PageTree.aspx
